The club's recent Tablescapes flower show introduced a class (Tablescapes) of the Floral Design Division of a flower show. Now it's time to delve into the Horticulure Division! Since the first public flower show was held in Philadelphia in 1829, growers have showcased their finest specimens to be judged by seasoned experts and admired by the public.
Ray Rogers, a member of the Town and Country Garden Club in the Sheboygan - Kohler area and a Garden Club of America Horticulture judge, will show and tell us everything we've always wanted to know, from to planning a Hort Division for a show and how to condition and display specimens, to what judges look for in a winning entry.
Participants are invited to bring one or two fresh cut flower stems from their garden or patio pot (in water, in a glass container with no visible advertising on it) for all to enjoy. For those who aren't growers, Ray's presentation will help to better understand and appreciate hort entries at the next traditional flower show they attend.
